Dior’s pre-fall show in Mumbai was 25 years in the making and kicked off a season-long showcase of India’s unsung prowess in global fashion.

The alliance between Dior’s Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri and the Chanakya School of Art turned the global spotlight on the unparalleled heritage of Indian artisanship.

To commemorate 25 years of Dior, Twenty-five craft techniques, including threadwork and embroideries like phulkari, mirror work, French knots, kantha work, in designs inspired by folk iconography linked to artisanal traditions like elephants, mandalas, lotus motifs, tigers and peacocks, made up the traditional 14-metre long toran installation at Mumbai’s Gateway of India, which made up the backdrop of the show.
The base, made of natural fibers, took over 35,000 hours of handwork by over 300 master artisans from both the Chanakya Atelier and School was an artistic collaboration between Dior and Chanakya Ateliers and Chanaya School of Craft.
Nitya, dressed in all Dior, was invited to witness the artistic genius at the Gateway of India , Mumbai where Live orchestra and musicians celebrated this unforgettable moment dedicated to Art, culture, heritage and Craftsmanship.
Truly a proud moment for India as all eminent fashion entrepreneurs and icons witnessed this momentous evening.
